The Predominant Style of Poster after the World War II

As the demands of the international identification and the smooth running of global events, the international typographic style became a wide utilization of poster design by the 1950s. The international typographic style is a graphic design style which fulfilled the principles of Bauhaus- The aesthetic standards of the purism and the functionalism. The style spread out throughout the world in 1970s. The trace of its influence on the world are still distinct.
With his good sense of typographic harmony and simple use of graphic elements Josef Müller-Brockmann became an important representative of the international typographic style. His remarkable series of Zurich Tonhalle concert posters is one of the finest achievements in poster design of the 20th century. Each poster presents a careful control of type, color, and musical form.
